I have decided to start documenting our hikes in a place where everybody can follow us regardless of who our facebook friends are or if a person is or is not on facebook, where we have poorly documented our hikes in the past. With time we will add writeups of some of the various hikes we have already completed.... definitely the ones from the last couple months, and maybe the last couple years.
We have permits to climb Mt St Helens in September, and as I (jamie) am naturally lazy and fat, we will need to be doing a lot of hikes for training in the next several months. In time Amy will hopefully start adding posts to this as well. As of right now we have hiked about 45 miles this year, scaling about 10,000 vertical feet. This morning we climbed Dog Mountain outside of Stevenson WA with our friend Karen (my sister from another mister). It was a very challenging 6.5 mile 2800 vertical feet climb. It was definitely a good measure of where we are now. We all made it, which gives me confidence we can easily be ready for St Helens if we continue on our current training regimen.
Our planned route is something like this....
